Veterans Day was originally known as Armistice Day.
This day initially honored the ending of World War I, recognizing the peace agreement that took place on the 11th hour of the 11th day on the 11th month of November 2018. In 1954, the U.S. changed the name to All Veterans Day, later shortening it to Veteran Day.
