On Sunday, a fourth-generation member of the Manteca Ripon Pentecost Society will take over the presidency of the organization that has served Manteca for more than a century.
Angela Seamas is set to take over the gavel on Sunday at the organization’s annual “Contas” – the annual count and closing of the books – while the organization will say goodbye to outgoing Presidents Kevin and Jill Paddack. Seamas will be joined by her wife Danielle in performing her duties at the helm of the organization.
And she has high hopes for where the institution can go as a new generation that grew up with the traditions are now being tasked with stewarding them.
“There’s nothing better than seeing the family and friends who’ve been raised alongside you in the society come together and carry on the traditions of those who led before us,” Seamas said. “It’s a way to keep our heritage, and the Holy Spirit, alive while having fun together and working towards a common goal.”
The event takes place at the MRPS Hall – located at 133 N. Grant Ave. – at noon on Sunday, Oct. 23. The day includes a recap of the 2021-22 fiscal year for the organization, a sopas lunch, and a live auction.
Having literally grown up with some of those that she’s now serving with in the very hall that she will now oversee, Seamas didn’t waste any time in detailing how much the organization means to her personally – and how carrying the torch is something that she takes very seriously.
“MRPS means everything to me, really,” Seamas said. “Not just in a sense of the society, but in my personal family as well. The best memories I hold from my life were all within the walls of our hall – my grandparents, parents, friends, and family have all been significantly impacted by the people within our society and I really couldn’t imagine it having been any other way.
“I think it’s extremely important to remember where we came from – and it’s just as important for us to work for where we want to be – and I hope to be able to witness this society years from our when our generation is now the experienced generation and our own children step up to lead.”
