Interlocking concrete pavers were used on Main Street in downtown Ripon.

A few change orders were necessary during recent underground work on the Stockton Avenue Rehabilitation Project.

At last week’s meeting, the Ripon City Council approved four field changes totaling $36,120.

For elected leaders, no discussion was necessary on the change orders to be paid via the Water, Sewer and Storm Enterprise Capital Funds.

Road work included resolving a conflict at a storm drain connection point on East Fourth Street, resolving a storm drain conflict with an existing sewer line in an area adjacent to the Diamond Pet Food property, installing a new service meter on a previously unknown waterline near the Thompson Building Materials property, and putting in a temporary bypass line for a storm drain line – necessary at the time to drain storm water during November / December, according to the report by Senior Civil Engineer Sarah Collins – that was in conflict with a PG&E gas line at the intersection of East Fourth Street and Stockton Avenue.

The Stockton Avenue Rehabilitation Project was awarded a year ago to D.A. Wood Construction, Inc. Completion is estimated by late spring.

The project calls for complete road construction on Stockton Avenue, from Second Street to Doak Boulevard. Included will be matching concrete pavers – to go along with the rest of the downtown area – 6-foot sidewalks, striping with a middle two-way left turn lane.

In addition, Stockton Avenue will feature signage and striping for a Type III shared bike path to go with vehicle traffic.

Efforts were made possible by grant money received from the Regional Surface Transportation Program, and Measure K Regional Arterial fund, coupled with local City of Ripon funds.
