Graduation plans are all but set for East Union High’s Class of 2021.

Seniors, for now, will have a chance to sign up for one of the two of dates – Thursday, May 27, or Friday, May 28 – at Dino Cunial Field.

The start times on both days are 7 p.m.

Most of the Manteca Unified is scheduled to follow similar patterns of the two-day on-campus commencement exercises.

The century-old Manteca High campus is currently undergoing major modernization project is the exception – MHS graduation, instead, will take place at Crossroad Grace Community Church on May 28 in an outdoor drive-in setting.

At EU, Principal Raul Mora said his students are thrilled about the return of graduation following last year’s drive-thru events amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is certainly better (even though) it’s not one big graduation with all of their peers,” he said, aware that plans could change due to the uncertainty of the pandemic.

The EU Class of 2021 will be led by valedictorian Minh Nguyen and salutatorian Daniel Ngo.

The two-day format was agreed up with the principals at each of the MUSD comprehensive high school sites outside of MHS and Senior Director of Secondary Education Clara Schmiedt.

Each graduating student will be allotted four tickets for family or guests.

Those in attendance will continue to follow safety protocols, including wearing masks and social distancing.
