Rod Scott is bringing to Manteca a pair of commercial endeavors — the city’s second bowling and family fun center plus a massive events and banquet hall also able to handle multiple full service weddings.

Fritz Huber is working to fill empty space at what his firm intends to transform into the South County’s go to shopping center at Orchard Valley anchored by Bass Pro Sops and the 16-screen AMC Theatre Showplace.

Mayor Gary Singh has been shopping Manteca to retailers and restaurants using the city’s rapidly expanding population base and surging household income to lure them here.

The three are speakers for what has turned into the hottest ticket in Manteca, the 2025 State of the City program sponsored by the Manteca Chamber of Commerce.

It takes place Thursday, March 13, at Great Wolf.

The 240-seat event has been sold out for weeks.

You can still view the event as it takes place starting at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at no cost.

You can do so either by dropping by the City Council chambers, 1001 W. Center St., watching it on Comcast Cable Channel 97, live streaming on the city’s website or streamed on the City of Manteca’s Facebook page.

Given all five council members are in attendance, those watching at city hall will be able to speak under the public comment section as long as it pertains the council agenda which is the state of the city.

Singh indicated the decision to secure Scott and Huber as speakers was a desire to allow those in attendance and watching remotely to hear from those investing in Manteca,

Scott is part of a group breaking ground this year on Ten Pin bowling alley and family fun center midway between Airport Way and Union Road.

The project also includes a separate facility that will share a common parking lot, an events center and banquet hall specifically designed to accommodate weddings from the ceremony to the reception.

Huber is with Grupe Huber, the Stockton-based commercial development concern that acquired Orchard Valley last year. They are in the process of making major renovations while aggressively seeking tenants.
