Manteca Recreation & Community Services swim lesson registration is now underway.
You have the option of group or private swim lessons at Lincoln Pool located in Marion Elliott Park on Powers Avenue across from the fire station.
Parents are advised to register early as popular time slots during each session fill up fast.
More than 2,500 youth take swim lessons each year through the city program.
Group lessons are offered on nine different skill levels with five programs designed for those 6 and older as well as four younger age specific programs for those nine months to three years, three to five years, four to six years, and six to 13 years.
There are also adaptive lessons for those with special needs.
There are four group sessions for ages up to 13.
Sessions cover two week periods, Monday through Thursday for eight lessons at 40 minutes each. The cost is $75 for Manteca residents and $85 for non-residents. Lessons take place at the Lincoln Park swimming pool.
The upcoming sessions are June 8-18, June 22-July 2, July 6-July 16, and July 20-3024.
Private one-on-one swim lessons for ages 5 through adults are available at the Lincoln Park pool for $130 for residents and $140 for non-residents. They are Monday through Thursday with 40-minute lessons.
There are 10 separate weeks being offered June 8 through Aug. 13.
Registration for upcoming sessions closes at 6 p.m. the prior Thursday of the session you want your child in.
Water safety day &
junior lifeguard camp
A free water safety say takes place Saturday, June 13, from noon to 5 p.m. at Lincoln Pool.
It marks the first weekend of open swim.
There will be activities and safety demonstrations from noon to 2 p.m. with free pool admission all day.
There is a Junior Lifeguard Camp that teaches basic safety and water techniques planned for July 13-16.
Campers will build stamina through swimming and games. Students should be comfortable swimming Independently in deep water. Although it is taught by certified lifeguards, it is not a certification class.
Registration includes a T-shirt.
The cost is $125 for residents and $135 for non-residents.
The location will be announced.
Open swim
The Lincoln Pool at Marion Elliott Park open swim starts Saturday, June 13 and runs through Sunday, July 23.
Those 4 and under are free while youth ages 4 to 17 are $2, adults 18 to 61 are $3, and seniors 62 and older are $2.
The little pool has a maximum depth of 2 feet while the main pool has a maximum depth of 5.5 feet.
Open swim is from noon to 5 p.m. as well as 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Fridays. Hours on Saturdays and Sundays are noon to 5 p.m.
The recreation office has relocated to 295 Cherry Lane at the Manteca Senior Center.
