At least four applications have been submitted thus far for the Ripon Planning Commission’s search for an alternate position.

Deputy City Clerk Jane Kilgore provided that update at last week’s Planning Commission meeting.

The deadline for the four-year term is Monday, Aug. 2. Applications can be picked up at City Hall, 259 N. Wilma Ave., during operation hours – 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Planning Director Ken Zuidervaart indicated that Mayor Daniel de Graaf will review the applicants and “may interview potential commissioners at some point,” he said.

The City of Ripon is looking for those interested in planning, zoning and other related matters to fill the alternate post.

Zuidervaart, in addition, said he will soon provide updates via a project status report to both the Planning Commission and the Ripon City Council.

Included are projects planned for the Ripon Crossing shopping center along Jack Tone Road and Canal Drive – namely, Happy Daze RV, Shall Service Station / convenience store with a Tommy’s Express Car Wash, and Burger King and Popeye’s Chicken restaurants.

The Alpine Climbing Adventure Fitness opened earlier this summer in that same location.
