The San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters said Tuesday that the nomination period for Manteca Unified’s Trustee Area 7 has been extended.
Those looking to challenge for the seat must reside in that area.
Bob Wallace, who is a retired superintendent and former MUSD board member, is the only candidate to file for Trustee Area 7.
The deadline is today (Wednesday) at 5 p.m.
The reason for that, SJCROV said, is the incumbent, Marisella Guerro, had not filed for a second term.
Trustee Area 7 consists of west Manteca to Lathrop, bordering south of Lathrop Road – between parts of Interstate 5 and Airport Way – to neighborhoods along Mossdale Elementary School.
The other two incumbents – Eric Duncan in Trustee Area 1 and Melanie Greene in Trustee Area 3 – have already filed and are running unopposed. They’ll both be appointed to another four-year term.
No challengers emerged in the Ripon Unified school board race, paving the way for board President Caroline Hutto (Trustee Area 4) and provisionally-appointed Trustee Harpal Chandar (Trustee Area 5) to each serve a full term.
Mayor Leo Zuber, Vice Mayor Daniel de Graaf, and Gary Barton also went unchallenged during the nomination period – all three will be appointed for another four-year term.
In other local races:
· Lathrop-Manteca Fire Protection District – Incumbent Gloryanna Rhodes will run against Jimme Lee Zien in the Nov. 5 election.
· Ripon Consolidated Fire District – Sheri Coburn, who is a retired nurse / educator, and Mark Ziesel, are seeking the one board of director seat.
· South San Joaquin Irrigation District – incumbent John G. Holbrook will be running against William Van Ryn II and Michael Weststeyn, who are both listed as farmers, in November.
