Like many school districts, Ripon Unified had its fair share of challenges during the past year amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In particular, distance learning.

Edward Ellis and Joshua Brenner spearhead the RUSD's Industrial Technology support staff.

Ellis is the Supervisor of IT while Brenner is the Technology Support Specialist.

At Monday's school board meeting, they're scheduled to issue a Technology Report for the past year or so during the 7 p.m. open session. The meeting will be available via audio livestream at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCpUWbW1dQJHIH7J.

"Supporting students and teachers during this time has been one of our largest projects," said Ellis in his report on the 'Focus of Distance Learning.'
Those efforts include researching, quoting, and ordering over 1,000 Chromebook from different vendors, developing a hot-spot deployment plan -- ordered and distributed were 150 cellular hot sports to students in need -- extending virtual private network licenses to support administration remote connection to internal network resources, and adjusting iPads and Chromebook for use on a non-school Wi-Fi network, to name a few.
In other agenda items:

•  Superintendent Ziggy Robeson and Student Board member Gracie Jaime will provide their respective reports.
• Jesse Deol of the Certified Public Accountant firm of James Marta & Company is scheduled to speak on the audit report.
• Principal Nathan Baroni and Kathy Coleman, who is RUSD's Director of Curriculum and Categorical Programs, will present the Dual Immersion Plan at Ripona Elementary School.
• RUSD will seek out anyone who might be interested in serving on the California School Boards Association's Delegate Assembly. The two-year term would begin on April 1.
