Ripon seeks to boost water well production

The City of Ripon’s Well #9 was constructed in 1989.

Back then, it put out about 1,500 gallon per minute, according to the Well Data Sheet on its original capacity.

According to staff, Well #9 – located at 710 Reynolds Avenue, near the Army Corps Park on South Parallel Avenue – has shown a drop-off in capacity, down to approximately 500 gpm.

The Department of Planning and Economic Development received a project referral not too long ago to do work on the water well.

This calls for undergoing an efficiency and condition assessment.

The project would be conducted in three separate tasks.

The Project Description said: “The first task will be drilling a 600-foot test borehole at Well #9 for the preliminary investigation.

“The second task will be a condition assessment to test the wells current efficiency.

“The third will be preparation of a new well design if the collected data supports moving forward with a new well at the site.”

The evaluation and condition assessment proposal were conducted several month ago by Stantec Consulting Services, Inc.
