The memory of David Luis will live on.

An open house and dedication ceremony honoring the late firefighter of the Ripon Consolidated Fire District will take place Saturday.

The open house at what will be the former Clinton School Farm at 21033 N. Ripon Road is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. At 1 p.m., the Ripon High school farm will officially be known as the David Luis Agricultural and Educational Facility.

A graduate of RHS, he was a longtime supporter of the Ripon 4-H Club and the local chapter of Future Farmers of America.

For 26 years, he was a firefighter, captain and chief officer for the consolidated fire district. David Luis passed away in 2016.

In addition, he was a member of the Ripon High School Agricultural Advisory Committee and worked on his family’s farm growing almonds and swine production.

At Tuesday's Ripon Unified school board meeting, Superintendent Ziggy Robeson provided a reminder for the special day honoring the memory of Luis along with the flurry of cleanup and beautification projects for Love Ripon.

"It will be a busy day," she said.

Love Ripon will take place from 8 a.m. to noon. on Saturday. Projects on the list include stadium cleanup at the RHS stadium, sprinkler relocation at Weston Elementary School, painting at Ripon Elementary School, and beautification efforts at the other campuses.
