A C.R. England semi-rig driver was cut off while driving on Lathrop Road shortly before noon on Monday by a pickup truck driver who then performed two “brake checks” in front of the truck causing the truck driver to hit his brakes to avoid an accident.

Manteca Police said the driver of the pickup waved a machete out of the window of his vehicle in an apparently threatening manner while he was driving. A short time later he held a blow torch out the same window in the direction of the semi-truck driver.

The truck and the pickup both stopped at the curb on North Main Street, south of Joseph Road, where the driver of the pickup approached the semi-trucks cab without any visible weapons and attempted to pull open the driver’s door. He was unsuccessful as the door was locked.

Prior to the arrival of police, the pickup driver went back to his vehicle and left the scene.  The semi driver was able to secure the license numbers of the pickup and police are attempting to identify the driver.
