Manteca’s third homicide of 2020 took place early Thursday morning just over a block from the Manteca Police Department.

A shooting happened in the 100 block North Walnut Avenue between Yosemite Avenue and Center Street just after 1 a.m. on Christmas Eve.

Officers arrived on scene and found an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local trauma center where he was pronounced dead.

Manteca police are asking anyone with information on the homicide to call their office at 209-456-8101 and reference case No. 20-39787.

Manteca recorded three homicides in 2019 and none in 2018 after tying the record of five set in 2015 with five homicides 2017.
