A surveillance camera at an East North Street home has made police work easier in the recent theft of a UPS package from a Manteca home’s front porch in the 800 block of the east, west roadway.
Detective David Bright was able to identify suspect Thomas Chase, 20, from the video footage and located the man three days later on December 1 two blocks away in the 600 block of East North Street.  Chase reportedly attempted to flee on foot from the officer but was caught and taken into custody for an outstanding warrant.
A probation search was conducted at Chase’s residence and the stolen package was located in his room and recovered, police said.  As of Thursday he was not being held in county jail, according to the Sheriff’s website and apparently had been released.
