Mosquitoes develop in standing water. San Joaquin County Mosquito & Vector Control District (District) asks all residents to eliminate standing water on their property.
“As we approach warmer weather, mosquito development progresses quickly. It is imperative to stop this early development before adult mosquitoes become abundant,” said Aaron Devencenzi, spokesman for the district.
Containers, old tires, leaking faucets, buckets, and wheel-barrows, are among items property owners should inspect.
Residents are encouraged to call the district with concerns or request service. For example, water noticed under buildings, neglected pools, or even roadside drainage ditches can result in mosquito development. Key to reducing large mosquito populations in the summer is early prevention.
