SJ County Fair opens Wednesday

The San Joaquin County Fair kicks off Wednesday, June 14, with plenty of live entertainment, music, rides and games.
Some of the attractions will include several tribute bands on the main stage, including Blue Collar Men (Styx, June 17), Skynnyn Lynnyrd (Lynyrd Skynyrd, June 17), and Life in the Fast Lane (Eagles, June 15).
The fairgrounds are located at 1658 S. Airport Way in Stockton.
On opening day, Jeramy Norris & The Dangerous Blues featuring Norris playing the blues on his guitar, George Schuler on drums and Chip Yeager on bass will be performing along with San Francisco-based Tommy Castro & the Painkillers with Castro on guitar, playing blues, soul and West Coast rock.
The Whiz Kids is a cover band out of Sacramento currently touring throughout the state and Reno, playing Top 40 radio rock, pop, R&B and country favorites on Thursday, June 15.
On Friday, June 16, James Otto, who is known for his breakthrough hit “Just Got Started Lovin’ You” – Billboard magazine’s Most Played Country Single of the Year in 2008 – will bring his vocals to perform various tunes including his 2015 hit single “Somewhere Tonight.”
Buck Ford will play that night. The Nashville recording artist will belt out traditional country tunes influenced by the likes of George Strait, Merle Haggard, George Jones and Keith Whiteley.
Bobby Zoppi & The Corduroys is country rock group from Sacramento. They’re schedule to play on Saturday, June 17.
The fair ends Sunday, June 18, with Metalachi. This distinct group is known as the world’s first and only heavy metal Mariachi band.
The fair will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. during its four-day run.
Admission is $8 for adults and $3 for children (ages 6-12).
Special events throughout the week includes Senior & Disability Day (Wednesday, $5 entry from 10 a.m. to noon); Kids’ Day (Thursday, free admission all day for those age 12 and under); 40% Off Entry (Friday, adults are $6 and children 6-12 is $3 until 5 p.m.); Ag Fest & Agriculture Day (Saturday); and Hispanic day (Sunday).
