It was a jewelry store heist that took a little more than 30 seconds.
Manteca Police Sgt. Mike Aguilar said that two African American adults estimated to be in their early 20s entered the small Princess Jewelry Store in the 500 block of East Yosemite Avenue at noon on Wednesday and pepper sprayed the clerk before breaking out a jewelry case with a sledge hammer before fleeing with all the merchandise they could grab.
They ran out of the shop and were last seen heading through a nearby parking lot.
Aguilar said there was no estimate on the value of the jewelry that was taken in the theft. Other than the clerk being blinded with the pepper spray no one was injured in the robbery and no weapons were seen.
