The Christmas Light Parade is set to return along the downtown streets of Ripon come Dec. 9.
Rain or shine, this event of the Ripon Chamber of Commerce will go according to plans.
Registration is currently underway.
From now through Dec. 6, those looking to decorate a float, vehicle or walk can do so – cost is $25 with the applications available at www.riponchamber.org
This year’s theme is “Merry & Bright.” Creativity, detail, use of lights and originality are the components that will be judged.
Participants may enter in one of the categories:
- Themed – Any float that fits the parade theme.
- Unique – Any decorated float that opts to go away from the parade theme.
- Motorized – Any non-float including decorated cars, dune buggies, farm equipment, etc.
All entries must be illuminated. The more lights, the merrier. All walkers must have sport at least one strand of lights including band members.
No Santa entries (Santa hats are OK). The Chamber will have one Santa Claus there as provided by the parade committee.
The parade, meanwhile, will kick off at 6 p.m. at the staging area – Almond Valley Christian Reformed Church, 333 S. Wilma Ave. – and will travel along historic downtown, from Main Street to the Ripon Recycling Center on Industrial Avenue.
Entries can arrive at the stage area after 4:30. All floats are required to arrive there already completed and in place ready to go no later than 5:30, according to the Chamber.
