Ripon man arrested in child pornography case

Ripon Police arrested Kevin Andrew McManis, 55, at his home shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday on a million dollar arrest warrant charging him with possession of child pornography associated with ongoing Internet crimes against children investigation.
Ripon Police Lt. Steve Merchant emphasized that McManis is not a member of the McManis Winery family in the Ripon community.
The Ripon Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit initiated a peer-to-peer probe earlier this year involving suspected child pornography.  Detectives served a search warrant on the Kevin McManis residence in February connected to the current investigation.  Electronic evidence was seized and later examined, Lt. Merchant said.
 “We would like to thank the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Modesto Police Department and the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance during the very complicated investigation, ” Merchant said,
