In the past, Tony Mistlin has given generously towards the sports complex named in his honor.

His latest contribution is for the construction of the concession stand, with another option of chipping in to make possible the restrooms.

The Ripon City Council on Tuesday will discuss the possible $1 million Mistlin donation at Tuesday’s meeting.

This will take place during the 7 p.m. open session in the Council Chambers, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

According to staff, the cost is estimated at $600,000 for the concession stand at the Mistlin Sports Complex, and is based on the bid submitted by O.C. Jones & Sons Construction, Inc.

As one of the top engineering construction contractor and builder of athletic fields in Northern California, O.C. Jones & Sons also put in a bid of $400,000 for the restrooms.

 The Mistlin Sports Complex’s four softball fields could be completed by mid-August and ready for play in the spring.

Over the years, Mistlin has provided financial support for many features around Ripon.

Included are the following:

• The water feature at East Main Street.

• The Oak Street gazebo and park.

• Land purchased to expand the sports park named in his honor.

• Construction of the amphitheater.

• The interactive water feature at the sports park.

• Artistic statues for the beautification of Mistlin Sports Park.

In other agenda items, elected leaders will:

• Give a second reading and possibly adopt an amendment to the ordinance that provides regulations on the cultivation and possession of medical marijuana.

• Direct staff to research the cost and feasibility of televising their meetings.

• Determine the City’s position on the effort of the San Joaquin Irrigation District to take over service currently provided by the PG&E.
