Souzapalooza is back.

The fifth annual Manteca event will be held on Saturday at Rocco’s Sports and Spirit, 757 N. Main St., beginning at 6 p.m.

Among the bands on tap are Odessa, Grey Space, and Icarus Jones.

Cost is $15 with all proceeds benefitting Jason Davino.

According to Mark Souza, who is the Souzapalooza proprietor, Davino is one of the owners of Fuzion Salon and Spa.  A cancer patient, he has been receiving treatment for Level 4 malignant melanoma.

Davino has also been without medical insurance while living on a limited income.

“The treatments are costly and we know he’s having a tough time keeping up on his medical bills,” said Souza on Tuesday.

A donation bucket will also be placed at the event consisting of both the inside and outside areas of Rocco’s.

A 2000 graduate of Manteca High, Souza began the annual bash some five years ago to celebrate his 21st birthday.

The success of that first-ever event continued and evolved into a benefit.

Souza decided to make the day before Easter to host his Souzapalooza. His goodwill in connection with the event came to be from a personal experience involving his stepmother and two of his siblings. They were involved in a car crash four years earlier, resulting in the stepmother and one sibling in need of medical attention.

Both recovered thanks to the generosity of the community.

Since then, Souza has made it a point to give back by raising money from Souzapalooza to help others in need.
