Albertha (Scheeringa) De Boer, 90, was born in Sheldon, Iowa on Sept. 13, 1919, the second child born of Samuel and Ollie Scheeringa. She was raised on a farm with her six siblings. She married Charles (Chuck) De Boer the love of her life, at the age of 18. With 3 little girls they moved from Minnesota and made their home in Ripon where Chuck found work at local dairies. In early fifties they started De Boer Truck Lines with one truck and built the company to over 30 employees. Chuck passed away at the age of 68 and Albertha continued to work in the trucking business until it closed in 1992. Albertha and Chuck loved having their 10 grandchildren at their home and they loved being with their grandparents. They raised sheep on their West Ripon Road almond ranch and supplied their grandkids with lambs for their 4-H and FFA Projects. Albertha loved to watch her sports on TV and was a big fan of the Dodgers but always still had a heart for her Minnesota teams. She enjoyed bowling with Chuck and also played Bingo for many years. The last years she enjoyed going to Black Oak to play the penny machines. She was an avid Skip-Bo player and could beat you on most days. Albertha spent most of her life helping others. Her mother was in poor health and widowed at young age when her father was killed at the age of 49 in train accident in Manteca. Albertha moved her mom into her home and cared for her for over 15 years. When her husband Chuck became ill with cancer, she cared for him until his death on Aug 15, 1980. Albertha had a heart for the American Veterans. She also enjoyed watching Christian programs on television. Albertha was a strong woman and was able to live in her own home and drove her car until almost 90 years old. Before she put her 1986 white Cadillac Liminted in storage you would see her driving around town in what we called the tank! On Sept. 13, Albertha attended her 90th birthday party at her granddaughter Carla De Jong’s home with almost all her family in attendance. Albertha is survived and will be greatly missed by her 4 living children, Freda (Larry) Green of Oakdale, Judi (Gerrit) van Riet, Jerry (Cheryl) De Boer and Charlotte (Richard)Wright all of Ripon. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sandi (Frank) Camara.
