Anthony Blake Garcia (Tony), 49, recent resident of Lathrop, joined our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a valiant battle with numerous ailments on Saturday, Nov. 14. Tony was born in Livermore on March 14, 1960.

In his youth, Tony participated in the Livermore and Hayward Junior Rodeos, and was a member of the Sunol 4-H. He was involved in other numerous extra-curricular activities, one of which was the 1978 San Francisco Golden Gloves where he won his weight-class championship. He attended Amador High in Pleasanton until he entered the military where he served honorably until discharged.

He is survived by his sons, Blake Anthony and Edward Garcia; sisters, Bobbi Lee Pierce (Walt), Mary Garcia; brothers, Richard Garcia (Susan), Tim Garcia, Christopher Garcia (Elizabeth), Paul Garcia (Kelly), Ron Garcia (Tina); and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Helen Garcia, and his wife Ana Garcia.

Tony was known for his sense of humor, never hesitating to make everyone around him laugh. He enjoyed traveling and was always up for an adventure, once even driving from Texas with his older brother Rick in a beat-up truck with a barely functioning radio. He took pleasure in all outdoor activities, especially at his favorite local spot, Lake Del Valle in Livermore. Most of all, Tony was happiest spending time with his family and friends. We will truly miss his loving spirit, commanding presence and smiling face.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to celebrate Tony’s life on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 557 Olivina Avenue, Livermore, CA 94551. Interment will be at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella, CA. The family requests no flowers please.
