Our beloved “Papa” Antonio Garcia was escorted into Heaven on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, by his loving wife “Lupita” at the age of 86. His wife went with the Lord this February, Mama and Papa would have celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Antonio is survived by his four loving daughters Rosalie Garcia Bernal (Tracy), Judith Garcia (Robert Zepeda), Antonia Garcia Gutierrez (Peter) and Anita Garcia. He adored his four granddaughters Ashlie Bernal Holste (Matthew), Anastasia Bernal (Edy), Alexa Bernal and Mia Gutierrez. Antonio then became a great-grandfather in 2017 to Audrie Mae.
Antonio was from Zacatecas, Mexico where he worked as a painter and a butcher. At the age of 21 he moved to California to work and to have the “American Dream” where he years later proudly became an American citizen. Antonio worked as a butcher for nearly 40 years. He met the love of his life, Lupe, and they married in 1964. After retiring, he and the family moved to Manteca in 2000. He spent his days at church and assisting Lupe in caring and raising their grandchildren.
A rosary for Papa’s honor will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe, in Lathrop at
6 p.m., Thursday June 6.
A viewing will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose on Friday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to 12:30. A mass will be at Sacred Heart of Jesus on Willow Street at 1 p.m. with a burial to follow back at Oak Hill.
