Blaid Dallas “Bubba” Spurgeon was born with a genetic heart defect but was determined not to let it control his life. He was irreverent, brutally honest, courageous, funny, loving, and spiritual.  He entered into eternal rest at Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada.

Blaid filled his waking hours with video games, movies, and music.  He would remember the dialogue from movies and DVDs and make everyone laugh because of it.  His constant companion was his cat Tornado. Blaid was the assistant for the children’s worship services on Sundays at the Country Church in Fallon, Nevada under Pastor Bryan.  Bubba would go out of his way, literally several bus stops in order to help his classmates on and off the bus in their wheelchairs.  He is loved and missed by his sister, Ashley Prater of California, mother Nanette Handsome of Nevada, his father Frank Spurgeon of Missouri, grandparents, cousins, uncles, and aunts.  He touched the hearts of his nurses and doctors, especially Dr. Joseph Ludwick, as well as almost anyone else who ever had the divine luck of meeting him, such as 98 Rock and Hollywood Undead! He will be remembered in a private service of his loved ones and friends.

Tokens of remembrance in lieu of flowers can be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and the American Heart Association Congenital Heart Defects group.
