Carroll Grace Zwinge

A retired school teacher and reading specialist Carroll Grace Zwinge, 97,  earned her angel wings in the early morning hours on February 20, 2020.  Born Carroll Grace Spangler, she arrived on the hottest day of the year July 7, 1922 in Lindsay, CA to Charles and Myrl Spangler.
   She graduated from Lindsay High School in 1940 and was swept off her feet by Norman Zwinge getting married in Carson City, NV August 10, 1941. They were married 68 years before his passing in 2009.  She went back to school and  earned her BA in education from Turkey Tech, now known as Stanislaus State in Turlock, CA while teaching full time and caring for her family.
She was a former member of First Baptist Church teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. For the past 40 years she was an active member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church serving as an usher, working at the Nearly New Thrift Shop, as well as past president of the United Methodist Women.  
Carroll was also past president of the University Women, past president of the San Joaquin County Reading Association, past president of the Pink Ladies auxiliary and past Advisor to the Candy Stripers at Doctors Hospital of Manteca.
   Carroll is survived by daughter Norma Titsworth (Roy) of Great Bend, KS and grandchildren Rodney Monsees (Sabine) of Portland, OR, Randy Benefield of Santa Rosa, CA, Shelley McKeever of Mountlake Terrace, WA, Rachel Hudson of Las Vegas, NV, Sarah Hinman (Steven) of Hoisington, KS, and two step-granddaughters, Jennifer Broom (John) of Jefferson, OH and Sherri Titsworth of Carlisle, PA. She has six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
   She was preceded in death by husband Norman and daughter Linda Hudson.
   A celebration of Carroll’s life will be Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 910 E. North St., Manteca. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 910 E. North St., Manteca, CA. 95336.
