Emily Amelia George, age 92, of Manteca, California, passed away in Modesto, CA on August 1, 2012 surrounded by her family.

Emily was born on July 21, 1920 in Gustine, CA to Diogo and Mary Macedo. She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, and trips to casinos. Emily was a member of several Portuguese societies. She was also active in the Stockton

Portuguese Hall.

 She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence George, son

Kenneth, and brother Manuel Macedo.

She leaves behind a sister Marian Leal of Manteca; nephews Frank Leal

(Sandra) of Manteca, John Leal (Nancy) of Modesto, and Robert Leal (Debbie) of Escalon, niece and (god daughter) Pat Morton (Tom) of Seeley Lake, Montana, and niece Jackie Leal of Manteca. Also numerous great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 7, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, near

Beckman Road, Lodi.

Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi, with Recitation of the

Rosary at 6:30 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 8, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 215 W. Walnut St, corner of S. Church St, Lodi, Father Bill McDonald will be officiating.

Committal will follow in the Garden of Gospels at Cherokee Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Shriners Children Hospital, 2425 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95817-2000. Please sign the online registry and share memories at
