Gerald Krein Sr.
Retired Lt. with San Joaquin County Sheriff

Gerald K. “Jerry: Krein Sr., 76, entered into rest peacefully on Jan. 25, 2011 at Doctors Hospital in Manteca. He was born on Sept. 23, 1934 in Stockton. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn M. Krein and two brothers, Robert Krein and Clayton Krein.

Gerald is survived by his children, Cheryl da Silva and husband Joe of Escalon, and Gerald Krein Jr. and wife Trudie of Nampa, Idaho; five grandchildren, Jason da Silva, Amber da Silva, Brent da Silva, Kevin Krein, and Kenneth Krein; and four great-grandchildren, Megan Krein, Noah Krein, Nick Krein and Ava Krein.

Gerald retired after 33 years of service from the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s office as a lieutenant. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served on U.S.S. Samuel S. Morse, Pacific tour of duty for four years.

His love of family was first and foremost. He loved playing fast pitch softball all his life, where he won a gold medal as the Pitcher of the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Softball Team in the 1995 Summer Police Olympics.

A visitation is scheduled on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a Chapel service at 11 a.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home. Final resting place will be Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy. 99 and East Harney Lane in Lodi.
