Gladys Deen Michaels, 83, went home Sunday, December 20. She is survived by her four children, Curtis Deen of Truckee, Betty Cruz of Manteca, Rosie “Deen” Farda of Citrus Heights, and Jesse Deen of Manteca; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; her sister, Ellen Dunbar of Modesto; and a brother Lod Seale of Citrus Heights. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Lod and Thelma Seale of Manteca; and her sister, Pearl Green of Green Valley, AZ.

After high school she completed Aircraft Instrument Training in 1941 and was trained in Civil Air Patrol in Roswell, New Mexico. She had the equivalent of Associate of Arts degree. For 33 years she worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She nursed for the public and for family members as well.

The most special experiences in Gladys’ life are when she gave her heart to her Savior, Jesus Christ, and her ability to mature in the Christian faith and raise her children to realize they have a Creator and Savior that loves them.

Her husband, Jesse Bickem Deen, passed away in 1974. She remarried in 1984 to Nathan Michaels, who passed in 1996.

She lived at Parkview Christian Estates since 2007 and enjoyed and appreciated the friendship at that facility. For years she was a member of Free Methodist Church in Modesto and shared in fellowship with members of the church.

Memorial service will be held at Free Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010.
