On May 30, 2019, Gladys Ethel Polk passed away in Manteca, CA at the golden age of 98 years young. Born in Kelseyville, California, Gladys lived most of her life in Gridley, California.
   She is preceded in death by her first and second husbands’ Kenneth Coddry and James K. Polk. Gladys was the oldest of four children and managed to outlive all of her siblings. Her parents were William and Ethel Crawford. Her siblings were Beatrice Hott, Ron Crawford, Sheila Lagamarsino and Hilda Smith.
   Gladys will be missed by her daughter Shirley Smith, grandchildren Gordon Scott Smith and Denise Diane Fraelich, her great grandchildren Matthew, Emily, Connor, James, Mark and her sweet great-great granddaughter Ellia.
   Gladys truly loved the Lord and served him with her whole heart. She was a teacher for 30 years and was loved by all her students. Gladys loved living in the small town of Gridley and was glad she settled there to raise her family and plant her roots. She was a strong independent woman who married young but was determined to get her education and did achieve earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Chico State College. Gladys enjoyed reading, quilting and putting together puzzles, but most of all cherished every minute she was able to spend with her daughter Shirley. All those who loved her will miss her.
