Glen C. Taylor Jr., 88, entered into the presence of his Savior on March 22, 2009 in Manteca, California. He was born on May 14, 1920 in Buhl, Idaho to Mr and Mrs. Glen and Alice Taylor Sr. He was a resident of Manteca for the past 13 years and previously of Contra Costa for 46 years. Glen was preceded in death by his beloved wife Hazel Taylor as well as his parents.

Glen is survived by his daughter Lynn Thiel and husband Bud of Manteca. Grandchildren are Joshua and wife Wendie Thiel of Manteca, Brenda and husband Rob Renfrow of Manteca, and Mike and wife Robin Thiel of Manteca. He is also blessed by 5 great-grandchildren; Katelin, Ty, Aaron, Amanda, and Jeremy.

Mr. Taylor retired in 1982 from Contra Costa County as a Director of Data Processing Department after 30 years of service. He was a veteran serving the United States Army from 1941-1945. While serving his country Glen found himself in charge of Probability and Statistic Analysis for Strategic Missions. He was able to serve in the Pacific, European and African theaters.

Glen never missed a great round of golf and loved boating, dancing and gardening in his vegetable garden. He loved to talk “Politics’ and Economics’” to anyone who loved to debate or just to reminisce. In Glen’s past-time reading was a way to relax and unwind. Christmas was a holiday that he looked forward to every year; family, food, and Christmas decorations is what he most desired. To remember Glen is to remember him as a  caring, family man who was nurturing in everyway.

Mr. Taylor’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 4, at 4 p.m.at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Road. Manteca. Final resting place will be at the Tracy Mausoleum.
