Helen Lorrayne Hixon, 99, entered into rest on February 16, 2020 at her home in Manteca. She was born in Roff, Oklahoma on December 14, 1920 to the late Hilman and Carrie Ables. In heaven, she joins her husband Harold Hixon.
Helen leaves behind her children, Norman D. Hixon of Manteca and Janice M. King of Manteca. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren and one on the way.
Helen was a Manteca resident for most of her life. After raising her family, she began her career in education and became a reading specialist and teacher for Manteca Unified.  She had a passion for teaching and made it her purpose to help and guide children during the most influential time of their lives. In addition to teaching, Helen was a volunteer tax preparer for AARP for over 20 years.
She was an active member at The Way Church, formerly known as First Baptist Church here in Manteca. Helen was the matriarch of her family and was well known for her warm and witty personality. She loved her grandchildren dearly and in return, her grandchildren adored her. Helen’s life was full. She accomplished much, but her greatest accomplishment was her family. As one of her grandchildren would say after her passing “It is not a life ended, but a life finished.”   Helen will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, teacher and friend. She will be deeply missed.
