James A. Thomas, 82, entered into rest March 10, 2012 in Modesto. He was born on December 28, 1929. James was a resident of Manteca for 15 years and lived at The Commons at Union Ranch.

James is survived by his son, John G. Thomas and wife, Tamara and his stepson Jess DaSilva. He was blessed with one granddaughter, Sarah Thomas.

James served in the US Navy for four years as a cook. He worked in construction for 27 years and was a member of Local #304 of Alameda County Laborers Union, a member of the Elks Lodge #1240 and an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He loved to watch the History Channel and Jeopardy. He loved living at the Commons. James cherished his granddaughter and loved attending her softball games. He was an easy going man. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services for Mr. James Thomas are under the direction of PL Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday March 14, 1pm to 7pm followed by a rosary at 7pm. A mass is scheduled for Thursday March 15, 10:30am at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 505 E. North St., Manteca. Final resting place will be St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Modesto. An online tribute wall is available at www.plfryandson.com for condolences. (search obituaries)
