James Rodney Hutchison, "Jim", passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on September 15, 1943, in Alameda, CA, Jim spent his first nine years in Oakland, then moved to Castro Valley at the age of 9. He graduated from Castro Valley High School. In 1972, he met the love of his life, Kandyce, and they were married in 1973. They made their first home in Pleasanton, then on to Livermore, and finally to Manteca in 1987.

Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose greatest joy in life was his family. he is lovingly survived by his wife of 52 years, Kandyce; his children, Jamie Hutchison Barajas (Ray) and James Richard Hutchison (Celeste). Affectionately known as Bumpa he adored his grandchildren, Haley Bridewell and Emily Hutchison Page, and his great-grandchildren, Scarlet, Violet and Aiden. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis Hutchison. Jim was preceded in death by his siblings, Leah Rae and Janice.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after three years of service. Prior to building a successful career in sales for 21 years, Jim was a bartender in the Castro Valley area, then on to open his own establishment in Pleasanton for many years.

Jim was an active member of Manteca Moose Lodge 1815, where he held several board positions over the years, and a lifetime member of Ripon VFW Post 1051. He also served as a Past President of the Lions Club in Pleasanton. Jim had a passion for golf and served as President of the Men's Club at Spring Creek Country Club where he was a member for 8 years.

He was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants. In his leisure time, Jim loved camping and traveling in his RV, always looking forward to the next adventure.

Known for his kindness and loyalty, Jim was a great friend to many. He lived his life with a strong sense of dedication to those he loved, always putting family first.
