John Hollis Matthews, 88, entered into rest February 16, 2018 in Ripon.  He was born on December 21, 1929 in Arkansas to the late Jack and Viola Matthews.
   In heaven he joins his loving wife of 55 years Lilly Matthews and his daughter Sandy Crithifield.  He leaves behind his children, Kathy Matthews of Oakdale and Mike Matthews and wife Lori of Ripon.  He was blessed with two grandchildren, Johnny Matthews and wife Lynn and Angel Scott. John also has four great grandchildren Freddie, Anthony, Samantha and Austin Matthews. John also has three great great grandchildren Victoria Warsing, Julia Warsing and Colton Matthews. In addition he has one surviving siblings, Frances Munsell of Sonora.
   John was a Ripon resident.  He served his country proudly through the United States Army.  He was a  member of Ripon VFW.  He enjoyed fishing and the out doors and most recently he looked forward to poker nights at the VFW. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.  He will be deeply missed.
