Kathryn E. Voorhis, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2009 in Manteca. She was born June 25, 1924 in Williston, North Dakota. The only child born to the late Dan & Gladys Jacobsen. She was a resident of Manteca for 3 years and prior to that lived in Orange County for 45 years.
Kathryn is survived by her husband of 60 years, Tom Voorhis; children, Robin Muirhead and husband, Dan of Oakdale, Janet Fountain and husband, Eldred of Tracy; 4 grandchildren, Julia Alvarado (San Diego), Regina Bradford (Anaheim), Andrew Muirhead (Oakdale), and Emily Muirhead (Oakdale). She was preceded in death by her daughter Carole Bradford.
Kathryn was an independent, loving, strong willed, loyal and reserved person. She was a great role model to her family as a mother and grandmother and was revered with love and respect by her family. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, quilting and sewing. She loved to read English mysteries. Kathryn was a member of First Prebyterian Church in Garden Grove for 45 years where she served as Deacon, church librarian, and worked in the church office.

Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. will be a gathering for family and friends with a Celebration of Life Service following at 1:30 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. Final resting place will be at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 W.
