Margaret “Lucille” Matthews, 90, entered into rest on September 14, 2019 in Manteca, CA. She was born in Arkansas on October 16, 1928.
   She is preceded in death by her husband Hubert Matthews, son Richard Matthews and her siblings, Mary Alice Tanksley and Earl Rigtnour.
   Mrs. Matthews is survived by her three sons, Ronald Matthews, Rodger Matthews and Michael Matthews; two siblings Beulah “Cricket” Kerr and Clarence Righthour. She was blessed by 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
   Lucille was affectionately known to her family as Grandma Ladybug. For the past twenty-one years, Lucille was a resident of Manteca where she was a member of The Place of Refuge Church and attended weekly Explorers Bible Studies at First Baptist Church. She retired after 30 years of service from San Jose Alexian Brothers Hospital as a registered nurse. She was a gracious woman who loved the Lord. Lucille was the matriarch of her family where she always had an ear to listen and a giving heart. She loved spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she loved them unconditionally. She enjoyed crafting, quilting, crocheting, playing cards and bingo. Lucille will be remembered for her feisty spirit, her determined strong attitude and her love that she displayed towards others. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
   P.L. Fry and Son is honored to be serving the Matthews family. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at
4:00 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Chapel, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca, CA. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband privately at Lakewood Memorial Park.
