Marinus Doornenbal Alone K

Marinus (Opa) was peacefully taken to his heavenly home to be with the Lord and his wife, Margje, on January 21, 2017 at the age of 93. He was born in the Netherlands to Marinus and Jacoba Doornenbal. Marinus and Margje came from the Netherlands in 1956 with their two sons, Mark and John. They settled in Ripon where their daughter, Janice, was born. His love for his wife, children and grandchildren was endless. He was devoted to his family and brought so much joy to all of us.
He is survived by his children: sons, Marinus (Mark Jr.) and his wife Janell; Johannes (John) and his wife, Cheryl; and his daughter Janice Poynor, and her husband, Mike.
He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Nathan, Jason and Krista Doornenbal, Sarah and Rachel Doornenbal, and Justin and Aimee Poynor. Marinus and Margje were long time members of the First Christian Reformed of Ripon where he served as an Elder and Deacon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margje, and his brother, Herman Doornenbal, from Escalon. He is also survived by his sister, Wilma Smeenk, of Washington and brother, Hank Doornenbal, of the Netherlands.
He worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for Griswold White Ford, Best Fertilizer Empire Ag Supply, and West Stanislaus Growers Association for many years. He worked as a chicken rancher on his farm, as well.
Graveside services will be held first on Friday at 10 a.m., February 10th, at the Ripon Cemetery, 320 North Stockton Avenue, in Ripon.  Church services will follow at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church, of Ripon, 305 Boesch Drive in Ripon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Christian Reformed Church in Ripon or Modesto Gospel Mission.
