Patricia (Patty) Moulyn Smit
March 12,1959 - February 7, 2017
Smit Patty

Patricia (Patty) Moulyn Smit of Ripon, California, went to be with the Lord on February 7, 2017, at the age of 57.  Patty was born in Modesto, California, on March 12, 1959.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Sebia Jo Moulyn, Clarence Smit and Betty Smit/Droge, Jake Droge, and her sister-in-law, Barbara Moulyn.  Patty was married to her husband Dale for 38 wonderful years. She was extremely loved by her children, Tricia Smit, Bryan (Shannon) Smit and Greg (Rebecca) Smit.  Patty had 7 grandchildren (and one on the way). Noah, Jacob, Ashton, Easton, Aiden and Noel adored their Mae Mae/Oma.  Patty’s siblings included Dan Moulyn of Ripon, Brenda (Terry) Travis of Ripon, Steve (Crissie) Moulyn of Petaluma, Beth (Mike) Swaney of Sebastopol and John (Shelly) Moulyn of Ripon.
Patty graduated in 1977 from Hoover High School in Fresno, California.  Shortly after, she met her soon-to-be husband, Dale. They immediately fell in love and were married in the fall of 1978. Patty was the church secretary at Bethany Covenant Church in Ripon from 1981 to 1986.  Patty then began her 30-year career as a Loan Processor spending most of that time working for Ability Mortgage.  Patty and Dale attended Bethany Covenant Church in Ripon for over 25 years and Calvary Chapel in Modesto for the last 13 years. Patty’s faith and character showed daily as she lived her life for the Lord.  Patty loved everyone she came into contact with unconditionally and wouldn’t let anyone leave her presence without a hug.  Her smile and her laugh were contagious. She had a way of knowing when someone was in need and would send a card in the mail to let them know she was praying for them.   Looking at her Bible, it was evident that she sought the Lord’s guidance for so many.  You couldn’t help but notice all of the worn pages with names and dates of people that were placed on her heart to pray for. Patty allowed Jesus to live so boldly in and through her life.  Her compassion for others will have an everlasting impact on so many.
Patty will be laid to rest during a private graveside ceremony at the Ripon Cemetery, on February 18, 2017, at 10 a.m.  All are welcome to attend a celebration of Patty’s life at 11:30 a.m. at Calvary Reformed Church, 741 2nd Street, Ripon, CA.
In loving memory of Patty, we ask that any memorial donations be made to the Ripon Community Fund, PO Box 281, Ripon, CA 95366.
