Robert E. Van Alstine passed away at the age, 80, with his family by his side. He was born in Minnesota to Earl and Laura Van Alstine. He is survived by his daughters: Lisa (Neil ) Vitro of Discovery Bay and Rikki (Craig) Pritzlaff of Ashland, Oregon; partner of 22 years; Evelyn Potts of Manteca, and her son Aaron (Dineen) Goodwin of Ripon, 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren, his cat Gadget of Manteca, and his brother George Van Alstine and sister Donna DiMatteo of Minnesota.
   He was preceded in death by five siblings. Robert was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. from 1955-1959 and the VFW Post 1051 in Ripon, American Legion 249 of Manteca, and the Moose Lodge 1815 also of Manteca. He was honored to win first place in the Cute Legs Contest in 1982 and in honor of his 80th birthday the Bartenders Association announced that his elbow had been selected to be bronzed and enshrined in the Drinkers Hall of Fame.
   Services will be held December 18, 1:00 p.m. at the Heartland Community Church, in Ripon, CA followed by a celebration of life at the VFW, in Ripon.
