Sal Castro Jr.
December 18, 1938-May 10, 2015
Sal Castro BW

Surround by his loving family, Sal Castro Jr. was called home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2015. He was born on December 18, 1938 in Watsonville, CA to the late Mr. and Mrs. Salomon Sr. and Edith Vigil Castro.
Sal is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years Toni De Leon Castro and his daughters; Wendy Johnston (Rich), Charlene May De Leon, Kristine Austin (Johnny) and Mary May De Leon and one honorary son Dean Uecker. His siblings are Caroline Lopez Ramonda, Sandy Burrola, Hope Morales, Fred and Jenny Castro and one honorary brother Leroy Johnson. He was blessed by four grandchildren; Michaela, Jacob, Dominique, and Sean.
In 1959 Sal was drafted into the Army; where he proudly served his country until 1964. He moved to Manteca in 1973 where he’s been a member of the Teamsters 439, VFW-Ripon and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He worked for Don’s Frozen Foods and Smart & Final retiring after 30 years of service. After retirement Sal then went back to work bailing hay for Dustin Meredith. In the 90’s Sal also worked for Luca’s Neighborhood Bar; where he met many friends. He enjoyed the simple things in life; fine foods, his 1972 Chevy pickup, and bus trips with “the gang.” One of his true enjoyments were reminiscing with friends about the “good ol’ days”, while sipping on cold Bud Light where he particularly enjoyed it, if it was half price. He was an avid Giants and 49er fan as he never missed a game. He had a special way of showing his love to his wife, daughters and grandchildren where exterior was tough but his heart was always over-flowing with unconditional love and protection.
