My name is Ryan Ward and I am a junior at East Union High School.  

On Saturday night, a large group of my friends and I dined at Applebee’s prior to attending our Winter Formal.  As you can imagine, we were all decked out in tuxedos and beautiful dresses in anticipation of a wonderful evening.  During this dinner, I was approached by a wonderful older couple who was sitting at the next table.  They explained that they were there celebrating their anniversary and that they had been married for 55 years and had gone to their prom 60 years ago.
 
Seeing us all dressed up reminded them of when they were younger and had attended their prom.  They then explained that they would love to pick up our dinner tab.  Now I thought this meant that they were paying for my date and I, but later found out that they had paid for the whole table (there were 12 of us).  We were astonished that someone could be so generous and giving, especially in these hard times.  We contacted our server to see if we could get the name of this couple, but no luck.  We then came up with the idea of writing to the newspaper, in hopes that the couple would see it.  We just want them to know that we all extend our heartfelt gratitude for their generosity.

We also wanted the readers to know that there are still wonderful and giving people out there.  Thank you again.  You really made our night!
