Bad apples spoil reputation of police

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
When I finished reading the article “2 California police officers accused of illegal gun sales”, I could not stop thinking about what hands could those weapons end up in.
The last three months of the present year have been plagued by news of shootings and violence related to the use of weapons. People like these officers contribute to these horrible situations to happen. They are part of the problem and I think more severe charges should be applied to them so other officers think twice before they do the same illegal activity. The purpose of police is to fight crime, not to embrace it and be part of it. Also, it makes this problem worse since they are/were cops.
Now many people can have a different conception of them and it is not fair to blame all cops just for a couple of bad apples.
