Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
Having just read Frank Aquila’s letter to the Bulletin it seems as though it is his heading that is exploding. I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I am a No Party Preference but most importantly I am an American (whose family has been in this country since the 1600’).
You say “Trump’s approval rating” is 50%. You can find any number of different percentages depending on whether they are a right-wing or left-wing organization so your 50% counts for nothing and it seems to be the percentage that Breitbart came up with.
Aquila seems to have taken a tactic from the President’s playbook, distort, accuse, and name calling in order to distract from the President’s hypocrisy and misdeeds. If, as he claims he is completely exonerated then why can’t the un-redacted Special Counsel report be released to the Judiciary Committee which is fully allowed to see top secret information? Why has Trump still refused to release his tax returns as every other Presidential candidate and President has for the past 40 years?
Because of Trump’s tariffs and trade policies U.S. farmers are having increased economic and mental health issues. Their suicide rates and bankruptcies have dramatically risen. If we are, as Trump says, getting billions and billions of dollars from China because of these policies then why has agriculture trade with China significantly fallen? Why has the federal government given farmers over $7 billion in bailout money if we are doing so great?
During his campaign speeches he promised a better healthcare plan, said it was “easy”. Where is it?
Why did he override those who vetted personnel for security clearances who said his son-in-law and daughter should not be given top secret clearances?
I watch all news stations, including Fox News, and it is interesting to see that Fox chooses not to show certain clips of the President speaking whereas other stations show what he said in full. Hmmmm! They seem to pick and choose what to show. As for you “heard” that CNN/MSNBC did not cover the Biden accusations, you are wrong. I have seen them reporting on it more than once.
As for your claim on abortion, I won’t even dignify that with a response. I will, however, ask why Republicans are so concerned with lives of the unborn fetuses but not school children? The GOP would rather teach children what to do during active shooter events, even arm teachers, rather than institute gun control laws. I know and have known many gun owners and I know of none of them who have had to use their guns to protect their families. When the Second Amendment was written times were vastly different; you needed a gun for food and protection.
So many questions and thus far so few answers.
I will leave you with this quote: “The best weapon of a dictatorship is secrecy, but the best weapon of a democracy should be the weapon of openness.” Niels Bohr, Nobel Prize in Physics.
