Time out! In reading Monday’s headline and brief article on Ripon’s Measure “I” school bond, we believe an error was made and it is important that the voters be aware as they prepare to vote.

First, before deciding to place a measure on the ballot, representatives from both Ripon Unified School District and Bethany Home met to discuss the bond and the potential cost to Bethany. We felt this was a transparent thing to do. Bethany Home. provided a short list of properties that are on the tax rolls and each one’s assessment under Measure I was calculated and discussed.

We found the assessments of Bethany Home properties to be reasonable contributions to improve our schools. The figures mentioned in Monday’s Manteca Bulletin may be incorrect based on our discussions. The assessments will be higher than reported in the article but certainly within reason.
