For the last couple of years my family and I have been going to Lincoln Park swimming pool on Friday nights, preferring to go in the cool evening hours.

 The Manteca Parks and Recreation Activity Guide states from June 6 through August 14  Lincoln pool public swim will be open every Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

 But as in previous years that is not the case. Already this year, the first week we went the lifeguards closed the pool early, saying the Friday evening pool hours were 6 to 8 p.m. Then last week when we arrived a note was posted on the gate saying the pool was closed for ‘maintenance’, (of course there was no one around doing maintenance). Another wasted day rounding everyone up to go swimming, and being disappointed when we get to the gate. Isn’t it possible to open the pool at Manteca High, and redirect us over there for the evening?

 Whoever runs this program is doing a lousy job. Starting this week I plan to keep track just to see how many Friday evenings the pool is open, or if it will be more ‘excuses’.
