Helen Nordendahls family appreciates care & kindness

Our family would appreciate the opportunity to publicly express our gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the staff at Manteca Care and Rehab during our grandmother, Helen Nordendahl’s, nearly four-year stay at their facility. As it is for most loving families; the decision for our grandmother to reside in a skilled nursing facility was, to say the least, a most difficult and sad decision for us, albeit a very necessary one for all concerned.

When our relationship with Manteca Care and Rehab began, it was for us, uncharted territory. As her family, we did our best to “show up often”. This, we feel, is key to keeping our elderly loved ones in the loop with what’s going on in the family and feeling the inclusiveness and love of their family. Our grandmother expressed on a regular basis, how grateful she was and all the love she felt from not only us, as her family, but from the staff at Manteca Care and Rehab. Her two regular nurses, Rolando and Heidi, provided her with excellent medical care under the direction of Dr. Barbara Bauer of Kaiser Permanente. They not only treated her with the utmost professionalism, but in time they too became part of her family as did her three most cherished CNAs, Mani, Rosemary, and Nilda. These and many other members of the staff took the extra steps to help make our grandmothers’ quality of life the best it could be. She loved them as she loved us.

A special thank you to Maria Lewis-Keltner. She filled in for our family when we would be out of town. Thank you to all of the caring wonderful friends who came to visit and spend time with Helen, whether it was at our family gatherings for Thanksgiving at our home, or enjoying our annual Mother’s Day celebrations at her favorite brunch at Isadore’s.

Our immediate family would like to say a huge “thank you” to all of our friends, neighbors and acquaintances that actively supported us in this particular time with their kind words and inquiries about our grandmother. It means so much to us. She is now at peace.
