I found your story about Zucca melons interesting. I was born and raised in Manteca. Growing up I saw pictures of my dad in the field with Zucca melons standing around him.
There are also pictures of myself and my brothers in the field as well. I did not know anything about these melons until your story. My dad worked for Mrs. Brumley’s father Mr. Cardoza in 1954.
Aside from the pictures I have I had never heard of these. My father’s name was Hubert Leslie he also worked for Spreckels Sugar.
