Hit those who dont yield to emergency vehicles in pocketbook

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

I will start by saying that I don’t always agree with some of the things that Mr. Wyatt writes about but I definitely agree with what he had to say in his article that was in the paper on Monday, July 18.

The city council should seriously consider his suggestion of a sting operation to cite drivers who do not obey the rule (which is listed in the California driver’s manual and is available at the DMV for free!) I also see many inconsiderate, and let’s face it, ignorant people breaking this law. It might be the only way to educate those drivers who are truly ignorant (and those who just don’t care) about the law. Hitting people via their pocketbooks almost always gets their attention.

It’s better to pay a fine to learn a lesson than to have someone die because you would not pull over, to learn that same lesson! Keep in mind that the person that the ambulance/fire truck is going to help might just be someone you know and love and they also might die because of you not pulling over!
