Lathrop lawsuits & community property

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
This letter is in regards to Mayor Kristy Sayles’ husband’s lawsuit against the city of Lathrop.

I hope that when the Sayles lose the suit against the city that the city forces them to repay the citizens of Lathrop for money spent to defend the case. I say the Sayles, because California is a community property state and simply put what’s his is hers and what’s hers is his. So seems like his suit against the city is also her suit against the city, right? Despite what the mayor says it’s the law in California.

I also want to give a brief insight to either side of this suit when the Sayles lose the case because it was already thrown out by one court and other courts do not tend to want to undo what another court has already put in place. To make a long story short, all defendants then have the right to turn around and sue the Sayles for malicious prosecution. I hope the Sayles consider these facts very seriously before moving forward. I do not want the city to settle this one out of court because it’s a winning case for the city and finally those two will see what Lathrop is all about. We take a stand when pushed and when others try to intimidate us we will stand together.
